Meet Cynthia Bailey

Cynthia Bailey is a lived experience consultant and owner of Nurturing Point, with over 20 years of expertise in trauma-informed consulting and supporting victims of diverse backgrounds. She is dedicated to empowering survivors and those who serve them through education, mentoring, and tailored guidance.

“Trauma is personal. It does not disappear if it is not validated. When it is ignored or invalidated the silent screams continue internally heard only by the one held captive. When someone enters the pain and hears the screams, healing can begin.”

Narrit Gessler Senior Partnership Manager | Center to Combat Human Trafficking | United Way Worldwide

Cynthia was a pleasure to work with at United Way Worldwide. Her expertise and critical thinking skills were vital to the initial success of our ideation process for a nationwide anti-trafficking toolkit.

Lindsey Human Trafficking Survivor

When I met Cynthia, she was eager to meet me. She is a survivor of sex trafficking just like me. Seeing her get through struggles, being strong and not giving up gives me hope.Cynthia is a role model and a mentor that I admire greatly. She would give everything to help someone in need. She's here to listen and give advice. Something I have noticed about Cynthia is she stands firm and doesn't back down. I absolutely love that about her. I remember a time when we walked in nature just talking and she helped me look at the positive things instead of the negative things in the situation. Her radiant smile shows me that one can still be happy after a traumatic experience. She has shown me that a survivor can and is strong, independent, and caring. She tells what is on her heart and truly cares. I am truly grateful to have her in my life. -

Jill Program Director

In this position, Cynthia served in a coaching role with adult females who had experienced sex trafficking. She was an example to them, both personally and professionally, while providing direction and oversight to the guidelines of the program. She was a favored staff member to them as she developed authentic relationships and demonstrated relatability and compassion through her lived experience. As an employee and colleague of the staff, she was an advocate for the residents and provided much wisdom and survivor-informed input for the team. Upon her departure from the full-time Residential Coach position, Cynthia has maintained a relationship with the organization by working occasional Respite/PRN shifts, providing staff consultation, and individual and group mentoring with residents. Cynthia has been consistently reliable and professional in her responsibilities. She is particularly gifted in administration, communication, both written and verbal and excels in relating to others.

Davina Ugochukwu Staff Attorney, Lone Star Legal Aid

Cynthia’s expertise has been transformative for our Justice for Human Trafficking Survivors program at Lone Star Legal Aid. In just over a year, she helped us double our monthly referrals and ensure nearly all are grant-specific—an outstanding improvement in both volume and quality. Her strategic guidance gave us a clear roadmap for outreach and training, and her commitment to engaging survivor-led organizations has greatly strengthened our work. Cynthia’s communication, knowledge, and problem-solving skills far exceeded our expectations, delivering results that are both measurable and lasting. I would recommend Cynthia to others—definitely, without hesitation. She is an invaluable asset to any organization fighting human trafficking.
